Miners and pack animals followed this trail in the late 1800s. As you climb to vista points high above the South Fork of the Smith River, notice the dramatic changes in vegetation. Spectacular view of a bend in the river at 1.75 miles. Redwood trees in drainages. Rhododendron, iris, paintbrush, and other wildflowers in spring; gentian in August. Trail ends at confluence of Craig’s Creek and South Fork of the Smith River.
