This non-motorized trail is the original Twelvemile Forest Service trail. It is five miles of pure fun for the expert mtn biker. There will be short hike a bike for some bikers. There are numerous stream crossings, some with logs. Expect to get your feet wet. Early in the season, the water is high and cold. June-October is best. The trail is not well marked in places but the old Forest Service blazes are there. Lower down you will pass a cabin site from the Uncle Sam Mine, which was operational before 1927.

Crevice trail has been cleared from top to bottom. Creek is high and crossings are treacherous this early in the season due to high water. 5/27/3018.

Lower 2.8 miles cleared on 10-30-18. Couple big down logs yet but easy to step over.

Did you build those bridges? Pretty nice. The taming of the Crevice!

So here's the deal with this trail (as of July 2020): From the top, down to the "Second Crevice Bailout Trail", it is absolutely fantastic- one of my favorite pieces of trail anywhere. Between the "Second Crevice Bailout Trail" and the "Access Road" ~a mile down-canyon, it deteriorates into a complete bushwhack nightmare. The best way to enjoy this is park at the top of the Second Bailout, ride the road to the top, then descend the trail to the Second Bailout and... BAIL OUT.
