The easier direction is coming down from Elk Meadows alongside the north fork of the creek. There are a few rocky areas coming down with some 12" drops. Then it's an easy climb up the main fork of Crystal Creek.

In late summer, the top part of this trail gets overgrown, and it can be hard to find it coming from Elk Meadows. There are usually multiple lines through the grass before you really get started on the trail itself.
