Curt's Lane is one of the first constructed trails at the Lunch Loops. This trail leaves the trailhead and climbs up onto the prominent ridgeline connecting into many of the core trails of the Lunch Loops. Constructed as a mountain bike trail, it can be ridden up or down, although it is primarily ridden down. It features several rock gardens and a couple tight switchbacks.
Curt's Lane is bi-directional. It is common to find walkers/hikers/runners climbing the trail so moderate your descending speed and be ready to yield right of way to climbing trail users. Because it sees a lot of traffic, it is often avoided by locals during busy trail times.
The trail is built through sections of expansive soil and it very sensitive of moisture (snow or rain). If the area has received moisture in the past 24 hours, Curt's Lane can become a muddy mess. In addition to wrecking bikes and shoes, this mud is very slippery and sticky at the same time. And tracking through it, especially hikers/walkers/runners put deep craters and pockmarks in the trail which further collect moisture and become a significant maintenance issue. If the trail is muddy, please run back If when you are leaving the trailhead, you find water in the drainage, this is a sign that Curt's could be still muddy.
Access Info
Accessed shortly out of the Lunch Loops trailhead. If you are standing at the kiosk of the Lunch Loops trailhead, Curt's Lane climbs up in front of you and slightly to the left.
