Nicely maintained trail up to a former lookout site. From the trailhead, the trail descends down the Cle Elum river, which is crossed on a bridge, and then steadily climbs (with many, many switchbacks) to the lookout site. Burned areas mid way up afford expansive views of the area, especially looking down valley toward Cle Elum lake.
There are multiple peaks named Davis Peak in this immediate area and debate about which one is the highest summit.
From the lookout site, an unofficial extension of the trail continues to another of these summits, with some scrambling required.
Traditionally Indigenous Territory
