Dirty Paws starts at the top of the Virginian Ridge MTB zone, and forks off of "Merle's" about 100 yards from the top.
The upper 1/3 of Dirty Paws is open bitter brush with small rocky cliff bands. Terrific views! The upper section is punctuated by short sections of exposure, with some rock roll downs and short rock gardens.
The lower 2/3 of Dirty Paws is in the woods, with many turns and some small step-down drops of 2-3 feet (most have ride-around options). The trail has a steep roll-down to a dirt road (look both ways!) and continues immediately across the road. It continues with steep sections and a few features, then dips across across a micro-creek (dry in summer, splash in spring), and up and onto more open shrub and pine terrain. There are a couple wood ramps that are optional in the last tenth of a mile. Then the trail finishes at the road.
Dirty Paws is fun and has natural flow, but is for experienced riders who are comfortable with exposure, steep sections, and short drops. The trail is about 1.3 miles (2.1km) long and drops about 1020 feet (310 meters).
Left Fork Wolf Creek Road. See Trailforks descriptions for Virginian Ridge Trail and "Merle's".
