Dirty Paws starts at the top of the Virginian Ridge MTB zone, and forks off of "Merlin" about 100 yards from the top.

The upper 1/5 of Dirty Paws is open bitter brush with small rocky cliff bands. Terrific views! The upper section is punctuated by short sections of exposure, with some rock roll downs and short rock gardens.

The lower 4/5 of Dirty Paws is in the woods, with many turns and some small step-down drops of 2-3 feet (most have ride-around options). The trail has a steep roll-down to a dirt road (look both ways!) and continues immediately across the road. It continues with steep sections and a few features, then dips across across a micro-creek (dry in summer, splash in spring), and up and onto more open shrub and pine terrain. There are a couple wood ramps that are optional in the last tenth of a mile before the 2nd road crossing. Then the trail passes through a section of shrub/steppe terrain before crossing the road a final time and again entering the forest. The final half mile has several more small step-downs, and one larger drop from a boulder (optional ride-around). The trail passes through a small aspen grove then winds through the woods to the finish at the road (also a good spot to park your car for a loop ride)..

Dirty Paws is fun and has natural flow, but is for experienced riders who are comfortable with exposure, steep sections, and short drops. The trail is about 2.1 miles (3.4 km) long and drops about 1500 feet (455 meters).

Recent precipitation and some clean-up work on tread in the upper section has Dirty Psws running well. Cows on lower half, so be aware of hazards...

Fun trail with small jumps and rock rolls. Continue on the trail to Thunderdome for more jumps and drops

Pretty fun. Techy up top. Gets rowdy with steep trail through lots of drops and jumps. Several ride arounds let you skip the bigger features.

Exposed and with great views up top, a few fun rock rolls. Gets very tight and technical once it gets into the woods. Lots of very fun drops over tree roots, all spaced to flow well at a certain speed. Make sure your brakes, suspension, and skill are up for it.

The trail is hard to find and you need to go through a gate but it is worth the confusion. The trail is full of rock rolls and drops that are all role-able (With great technique.) or have ride arounds. (Except for one.) It is a long ride up though so I woulde recomend getting shuddled up. The bottom part of the trail is covered in crap but it is still one of the best FR trails in the area.
