Dry Tanks Connector Details
This trail is harsh. It's rocky, steep, dry, and leads to other dry trails miles from nowhere. IT'S PERFECT! At least for self-supported bikepacking or supported by pre-arranged water drops and shuttles. The trail was most likely an Apache hunting trail from centuries ago that was converted to a wagon road by the first settlers. I don't think a motor vehicle has ever attempted the full thing.
You have to turn on this trail from the far side of the Tanque Tierra Loop. That means six miles of climbing before you start the self abuse. Don't try to conquer this, just plan a way to survive.
