This non-motorized single track trail was constructed as a pack trail probably in the 1930's. It makes a great single track mountain bike trail and can be ridden in either direction, although it is a challenging climb in areas. The trail leaves the Stormy Peak Road (023)on the south side of the bridge at the 6,640 foot elevation and goes up the East Boulder Creek drainage on its south side and climbs up to meet the Haystack-Stormy Peak trail in four miles at the 8,200 foot level west of the Point Of Rocks. There has been historic mining activity in the East Boulder Creek area and you will probably see some of the remnant's near the trail if you are observant. The trail goes through mature lodge pole pine forests which have been attacked by the mountain pine beetle causing heavy mortality. There may be heavy downfall if the trail hasn't been cleared recently. The lower end of the trail stays on the south or west side of East Boulder Creek. The track is incorrect in this area as it shows it on the north or east side at the lower end near the bridge on Road 023. Note different maps show different road numbers for road 023 which accesses the lower trail head for trail 114.. The forest travel plan has the correct number which is road 023.

Access Info

Access points are the Stormy Peak Road Crosses East Boulder Creek at the Bridge on the lower end and just west of Point of Rocks on the Haystack-Stormy Peak Trail on the upper end. The trail was not signed on either end.
