This doubletrack trail begins at the junction with Patterson Creek trail and continues up the drainage of East Fork Patterson Creek. The trail starts with a moderate climb before it proceeds through a couple switchbacks with a more serious incline. The trail then levels off at an old mining cabin (it's open, but please make sure to keep it clean, drop your name in the logbook, and close the door) where it forks: one track goes up the draw and another goes south up a feeder drainage before dead-ending in a talus slope. Take the route that passes the cabin and continue up a steep grade that includes a nasty boulder garden (it's a kickass downhill) before crossing a creek and continuing up a number of very steep switchbacks past which the trail continues up a series of steep inclines before reaching the top of Big Eightmile drainage and joining Patterson 6185 trail after a very brief descent into Big Eightmile and the east side of the Lemhi Range. While this trail is doubletrack, it is worthy of the trip!

From US 93S, turn right onto the Pahsimeroi Valley Road/Farm to Market Road and continue south for 22.8 miles to the junction of Patterson Creek Road and the Pahsimeroi Valley Road.
