The ECNZ pylon track was a track used for maintenance of the Electricity pylons along the western hills of the Hutt Valley. It is a 4x4 trail used by walkers, runners, horses, bikers and service vehicles maintaining the many transmission stations on the western hills. This southern sections runs from the top of the Wainuiomata Hill, around Mount Fitzherbet with it's cluster of transmission towers, to a clearing and fork in the road at Mount Ken.
The main access from the south western end is from the top of the Wainuiomata Hill. Alternative access is via Jungle Gym from Waiau Trail Park, or up one of the fire breaks from the Lower Hutt side (Te Whiti fire break, Summit Road fire break or Wilkie fire break).
