This trail has panoramic views of high mountain peaks, the Pacific Ocean, and the North and Middle Forks of the Smith River. It mixes steep climbs and descents with flatter, rock-filled fun. Rocks and small boulders are commonplace. The trail surface is mostly red clay with LOTS of rocks. It is usually ridden in the downhill direction, but is occasionally ridden the opposite direction. Even when ridden downhill, it has several steep, punchy climbs that end up turning into hike-a-bikes. Great technical adventure for experienced riders. The entire trail is mostly sparse pine forest with minimal shade. On a clear day, views are quite expansive and scenic.
