This trail follows the Escalante River downstream into its lower gorge. Unlike most trails in this area, this is a relatively easy, well-developed trail with water and shade The trail follows the north/east side of the river for the first mile (the other side is private property), then there is a river crossing that may be more or less difficult depending on the season--probably too much for children April-June. The trail continues quite well developed another mile until it reaches the mouth of Phipps Wash, then it is more faded for the next few miles, gradually becoming a backcountry route that can be followed all the way to Lake Powell.

Disclaimer

Wilderness area, so no bikes! Disregard the elevation profile, the cliffs mess it up; the trail is very flat.
