Typically, Falls Creek is ridden as a shuttle ride starting at the Oldman Pass Snopark, proceeding down trail 150 to NFD 3053 then to McLellen Meadows and down the road to the horse camp where the top trail head is located. This trail is also a lot of fun as an out and back, with only a relatively short hike-a-bike section in the middle. Traversing diverse stands of gnarly primary regen and second growth forest through various climate zones and soil types. It's like a rolling tour of microbiomes straddling the cascade crest

This is a beloved jewel of Western Washington, and most bikers in the area make a point to ride it at least a few times a year when the snow is melted off. It's not usually completely rideable until about mid June. Sometimes, if you're lucky, it'll be rideable by Memorial Day.

The trail passes a complex of lava tubes nearer to the top and a lot of the trail traverses eroded lava fields. It's much more passable than most lava field trails, though. The descent is absolutely magical, and there is a significant revision to the trail added by a partnership between Evergreen SW and Northwest Trail Alliance about 3 years ago.

Favorite! Fast and a little chunky.

Great up and down. Earn your turns, spurn the shuttle.
