Rolling sage hills, non-technical, can have steep side hill. This trail starts at the top of Horse Lake Road and is a great beginner trail. From the parking lot, turning right heads up on a swoopy, meandering course to a picnic table at the top of the hill. Going left is a more direct, steeper route that goes to the same place. From the picnic table the trail starts gently downhill to the junction with Homestead Trail or continues south 1/2 mile to a great viewpoint with a bench. This a great spot for beginners to turn around and retrace their pedal strokes.
Seasonal Closure: Every winter the PUD and CDLT properties in the the Sage Hills are closed from December 1 to April 1. In winter, mule deer move down into these lands and, at a time when they are nearly starving, they can ill afford the calorie expenditure needed to avoid people and pets
