The trail at across the street from Sally's YMCA is a natural surface trail stretches 1.1 miles along Forney Creek in eastern Lincoln County. Hikers and bikers will enjoy exercising in a wooded, shady area as the property surrounding the trail is part of an 85-acre preserve protected by Catawba Lands Conservancy. The trail is fairly narrow, commonly referred to as single-track. This segment of the Thread Trail is part of a larger network of trails on the property managed by Sally's YMCA. This segment of the Forney Creek Trail is named the Kathryn G. Clark Segment to honor the Clark Family for their dedication to conservation and donation of this preserve. The preserve also features a pond that is named in honor of David Clark, Sr.

Many species of oaks are found in the preserve, providing nice shade along the trail and shelter for the wildlife. Occasionally, trail visitors will be treated to the sight of an eastern box turtle or other small critters meandering along in the leaf litter.

There is a 66-foot-long suspension bridge that crosses Forney Creek on the trail which then continues east. The Kathryn G. Clark Segment connects to 1.3 miles of additional trail to the north within Catawba Springs Preserve.
