Starting from the south end (preferred direction), fork off of the Bowen Traverse trail. It begins by heading back east, well above the Bowen Traverse, before curving and heading north with huge views of the north cascades. Views from the Sawtooth Ridge, to Mt. Gardner, to Goat Peak and Isabella Ridge. Stunning.

But keep your eye on the trail! It becomes a narrow side-hill traverse with exposed rocky sections (all but the most skilled will likely walk a few short sections).

On the north end of the Bowen Skyline trail you will descend steep narrow switchback and curve back toward Bear Creek. Here you can choose to follow single track south toward Lester Road (trail is on the east side of Bear Creek), or cross the creek and follow the single track along the edge of the field and to dirt road that leads to Bear Creek Road.

If you want to ride out-and-back, then turn around before the steep descent on the north end of Bowen Mountain.

Note: there are a few rattlesnakes in this area when it is warm.

Access Info

Typically, park at the junction of Bear Creek Rd and Lester Road. Head up Lester Road and get on the Bowen Traverse trail. The junction with Bowen Skyline trail is about 1.1 miles up the Bowen Traverse trail.
