This segment of the Gabrielino Trail connects from Valley Forge CG to Kenyon Devore Trail.
The access trail from Valley Forge CG climbs up a few switchbacks where it intersects the Gabrielino Trail (unsigned intersection). The trail soon intersects Valley Forge Trail currently marked by a burned signpost. The Gabrielino continues east, generally contouring in and out of side canyons and a few stands of unburned trees. There are a few gully crossings which currently require a dismount to cross, otherwise the trail segment is in pretty good shape with recent (fall 2022 and July 2023) tread work and brushing. The final approach to the intersection with Kenyon Devore Trail has two stream crossings with broken wood for stepping stones and a short steep scramble out of the stream bed to the intersection with Kenyon Devore Trail.
Access Info
Access the west end of this segment from Valley Forge CG by crossing the stream and climbing a few switchbacks. Gabrielino Trail also continues west from this point but is reportedly in bad shape.
