A fast and tight downhill escape from the mountain ending in Minturn. Nothing too technical but a little bit more than a blue with the rocky end and short exposure sections.

Also, to add to the further discussion to the Vail Valley Mountain trails association. Please leave whiskey creek in Paulie’s plunge alone, they don’t need to be turned into EasyFlow trails. There’s a rumor that they are going to be “fixed“. Spread the word…

Word to the wise from a long time local trail builder, ride this downhill. Not fun to ride it uphill, I see a lot of out of towners doing it, best to park At the Forest Service building in Minturn. Ride up Vail mountain and ride Downhill back to your car. I would say it is 50% hiking with your bike if you do it uphill.

Welp it happened, Vail trail crew added a bunch of unnecessary grade reversals and re routes. Just another ruined old school trail.

I'm not part of the crew, so I may be mistaken here, but the grade reversals may have been necessary to reduce ongoing maintenance. When grade reversals are implemented it usually isn't about flow or steepness; it's about water control.

I'm aware of that having done a lot of trail work myself. The only section that truly needed it was the drop in from the eagle nest trail. Otherwise a few waterbars would've done the trick on the other sections with it. Seems to be a dying art these days using waterbars which is crazy because they help so much without ruining the character of a trail.

Ahh I see! You may want to send them an email with your thoughts, encouraging them to use waterbars in the future when possible - www.vvmta.org/contact

Hey Vail Valley trail crew, please don’t ever touch this trail and make it boring like you did with cougar ridge.
