Gateway trail is the primary access trail on a small network of about a half dozen machine built trails. With several small pirate trails interlinking. The network has decent signage and access from opposite ends. Shastice park serves as one entrance from the southern end with a paved parking lot and bathroom facilities. The trails are access from directly behind the skate park. The other entrance at the Northern end is on the right hand side of Everette Memorial Hwy, approximately 1/2 mile past the rail road tracks crossing. This consists of a small dirt lot with a large map and signage. No facilities here.

You can expect to encounter people walking with dogs in both directions. Mostly on the flatter sections, but stay alert and share the trails. Summer time bring lose dry and rocky soil throughout the network. Spring and fall moisture transforms the dirt into a fantastic tacky and fast rolling hard pack. Soil dries quickly so catching it within a day or two after a rain storm will offer the best conditions.

The network is also fed by the much older gravity trails from higher up on the mountain. They are not regularly maintained or machine built so if you venture out to find them, you can expect a totally different experience. Most are Black Diamond to Double Black Diamond, with mandatory rock features, rough terrain throughout, and steep descents. These gravity trails can be hard to find and are not sanctioned at this time (early 2017).
