Stampeed Pass, Washington
Conifer forest on steep mountain slopes in the Dungeness drainage. Nice view of Dungeness River near trailhead. The trail is heavily wooded with viewpoints. Need to ford at Gold Creek about 0.5 miles from the lower trailhead. This trail has some steep grades with some sections exceeding 20%. The first 0.4 miles is an old roadbed.
Pick-up can be made on Forest Service Road 2870 opposite the Tubal Cain Trailhead. Pack and saddle stock, "street-legal" motorbike, and mountain bike users may want to make a long loop trip by traveling up the trail and returning on Forest Road #2870. Water is scarce.
This is an OHV trail as well as a mountain bike trail
