Goshawk Flats Details
This is a pleasant 2.8 mile single track trail that connects to several trails on Virginian Ridge and the Methow Community Trail. The trail is forested with pine and fir with a few glimpses of the adjacent valley and mountains.
The trail starts on the right side of Rd 5005 where it passed through a wire gate into forestland. After a short (0.3mi) but steep descent, the trail turns left (west). The remainder of the trail flattens out with some short climbs and dips. There are easy "ride-around" options for several deeper ravines. At 1.7 and 2.1 miles the trail crosses Wolf Creek Road. (These crossings could serve as alternate starting points and provide preferable access for beginners and kids). At the second crossing, the trail doubles back for about 0.7 miles and connects with itself and the Mr Toads Wild Ride trail.
This trail starts from Forest Service Road 5005 (AKA the "Left Fork of Wolf Creek Road").
Riders should park at the first "Wolf Creek Trail" directional sign about 1 mile before the start of the trail or at the trail start (up a short hill and near the apex of the first sweeping lefthand curve). This trail is not signed or marked, so use the mobile app or a GPS for navigation. The trail was largely developed from cattle trails on seasonally grazed lands - please close gates!
