During Grafton Ghost Town days, this was an old mule track to access the mesa-top, now eroded into narrow downhill-only singletrack.

The upper 1/2 sections are a very rough technical rock garden on a steep descent. Lots of loose chunk, boulders and some steep rolls down rock stacks. Trail is mostly straight but has a couple of twists and bends. Due to the large boulders and drops, sight-lines are limited and a major element of the difficulty is the short time available to study the trail ahead. Some sections fade from view and can only be judged just immediately before the entry to drop/roll. This is rough, old-school tech-gnar with lots of steep and loose and uneven traction. Most lines have no easy ways to abandon or step-off the bike due to the hazards left and right, so the trail requires a lot of commitment.

The lower 1/2 sections move further away from the rocky bands of rock along the cliff and introduce surface changes. There are some rock-stack chutes and multiple side-options with more speed and momentum possible. Some of the side options involve gaps or high-lines to drop-off.

The bottom quarter is smooth dirt. There are spines, drops, hips, gaps and ridges.

CAUTION: near the bottom, the trail takes a gentle left turn along the ridge of a spine. To the right of the spine is an unsurvivable sheer drop-off, and you will be very close to the edge, especially if you do not turn. The drop cannot be seen on the approach. People walking up to and near the edge have made it seem like the line of the trail goes riight towards the drop.

Conveniently in case of disaster, there is a graveyard located just at the end of the trail.

Not suitable for wet weather.

First 1/2 of trail is pretty much a techy steep constant rock garden, but a lot of fun, then it gets faster with some optional jumps and lines and ending close to some freeride you can hike up to and the Grafton road gaps

Short and sweet, lots of the rock rollers are pretty straightforward you just have to commit. Very sustained the whole way down, you should be able to ride this clean as a good precursor to Flying Monkey which is much steeper and looser.

Great ride. Techy rock garden at uper part with so much flow mid way down. At car park there’s is some nice droops and quickers to play with your buddy’s.
Another great work from the locals in Hurricane.

One of the beat gnar I’ve ridden. So well set up, you roll through stuff that looks like random chunk. Big trail bike will be best, a dh rig is not a bad choice but rough to push up. My process 153 loved every minute

This trail is amazing. Very difficult. You must commit or you will spend your time OTB and subsequently walking your bike.

Fun trail! But difficult to ride without shuttling. You have to walk up, or ride the long road around. The top is lots of big rocks, but it really opens up after.

Awesome trail if you're looking for a challenging ride. Completed it on my 160/140 trail bike. The walk up makes it seem more daunting than it is.. So sick!

Very technical in the beginning, loose rocks, steep rolls but lots of fun on my 160mm enduro bike. Second half is fast and flowy with a couple optional jumps and some pretty good exposure. I think double black is an appropriate rating. Would definitely recommend on a longer travel bike.

Excellent trail building. Super chunky, fairly steep with some exposure. A few difficult and/or committing moves in the sustained rock garden but it gets progressively easier and faster then dumps into some drops and big jumps
