trail is fast, rocky & rooty in spots with some tight turns, a small drop off some tree roots to the little bridge, and some short steep spurts of climbing then it joins up with the blue trail until it drops back down the ridge to the river. It goes from being up on top of the ridge on either end of the loop and drops you down into the river bottom valley. This section tends to be quite muddy at times after heavy rain due to being right next to the river, but you are able to navigate around the mud or just go right through it. The downhill portion of the trail is very fast, rocky, and has a nice sharp switchback with a berm, then the trail follows along the river to the point where both rivers converge and then you turn back to follow along the edge of the other river past the ruins of an old mill of some sort. Once you pass the old mill, you will turn sharp left and start making your way back up the ridge along a steady uphill grade that will get your heart pumping and legs burning. When you get to the top, turn right and follow the blue/green blazes back to the red trail and then back to the parking lot. ***be careful when approaching the old quarry rock face from one of trail off shoots marked in blue, there are no warning signs or fences that would prevent you from going off the cliff. Approach with caution.
