Alternating between flowy and techincal sections, Halo Trail meanders around Peavine's waistline and offers good riding for a strong intermediate to advanced rider. Though nothing is too outright difficult, some sections - especially in the switchbacks - require skilled mountain bike judo to clear. Riding this trail from end-to-end without dismounting would be quite a challenge.

Lots of Reno locals said this trail wasnt worth the effort but I disagree. It has a fun mix of flow and chunky rocks and some fun switchbacks. There are no advanced rock gardens but a few sustained sections of volcanic rock and/or baby heads with one optional (semi) advanced line. As far as the black diamond rating: it's more technical than most trails in Reno (especially on the climb) but is barely a blue run compared to surrounding areas like Tahoe or Downieville.

Really enjoyed this ride! Good variety. Switchbacks can be challenging but are totally fun.
