This trail begins on Forest Road 29, passes a large beaver pond, and ends on the Tongue Mountain Trail #294.
The CCC built the trail while falling snags to reduce fire danger in the area in 1933 and 1934. The snags were what was left of the forest after the Cispus fires of 1902 and 1918 which burned a total of 96,000 acres. Sections of this trail are steep
Like many of the trails in the South Cascades, this one is open to motorcycles. But rarely will you see one in as good a condition as this. It is perfect in places, and rutted a bit in others, but not bad at all.
From Randle, WA Head south on WA-131 S for 1 mile and go right on Forest Road 23 (Cispus) and follow for 8 miles. Then go right on Cispus Road and follow for about a mile and go left on Forest Road 29. Follow Forest Road 29 for about 2.9 miles to the trailhead.
This trail is maintained by the US Forest Service. Check with the USFS/Gifford Pinchot National Forest for the latest trail status.
