The rides begins with a pretty big climb which provides some great views of Castle Peak, you'll have the opportunity to go up to Andesite Peak as well for some added climbing. From the top of the first and longest climb in the beginning its game on for the rest of the ride, which is a mixture of rocky, rooty, and granite slab single track. There are a few jumps and fun granite rock wall rides etc to be had along the way You'll ride through some high sierra foliage and fauna, and work you way in a loop back toward highway 80. The middle of the ride is shaded and at high elevation and tends to hold snow late into the year...
There are some technical ascents that are tough to clear and the ride is at elevation so for the Granite Bay guys, get ready to open your lungs. Be sure to stop lake side at Lower Lola Montez Lake for a quick dip near the end of the ride.
