Off the beaten track. Great trail near Calgary, far away from busy trails of Bragg Creek. Climb is challenging with a few steep sections. At the 3KM mark you are rewarded with a bench and amazing view of the mountains to the west. This trail is primarily used by equestrian and hikers but uncommon to encounter any on your ride. Trail is suited for the adventurous rider, as the trail can be rugged to some with down trees, eroded trails, marsh and creek crossing. But well worth the extra effort.
Park on Sheep River Road at the Indian Oils trailhead, or drive past to the larger parking down the road. You can leave a 2nd vehicle at the end of the Gorge Creek Trail or ride 11km back to trailhead of gravel and paved roads.
