An easy jaunt around the beautiful Island Lake, with regular viewpoints of the lake.

Allows for a gentle hike around Island Lake following lunch or dinner or when your time is limited. You can view the island in the middle, normally home to a mama moose at calving time.

Island Lake Lodge is a worthy destination. A word- class lodge sitting above an alpine lake with majestic views up to the Three Bears mountain peaks. In the summer months you can sit on a stunning deck surrounded by flowers and enjoy gourmet lunch options and a cold beer.

Access Info

Drive out of Fernie heading South (Cranbrook direction) for 3km to Mt Fernie Provincial Park. Turn right in to the park and head up the Island Lake Road for 9km from the highway, following signs to Island Lake Lodge. Park at the Lodge and you can go in and ask for a trail map.

From the trailhead below the Bear Lodge, head down the trail to the lake and follow the signs. The loop can be completed in either direction.
