This trail is typically used as a climb out from Lake Imaging Rd to the other trails in the Lake Imaging area, but is great going downhill, also.
In both directions, the trail is predominately flowy with a few roots to deal with. On the climb, the roots are relatively small and have ridearounds. On the downhill, the roots give you the option to boost a bit, but please be careful as there are often hikers, climbing mountain bikers, and horses on this trail. There are also a handful of blind corners that make visibility difficult, so hold back on your speed when it's a busy day.
Don't miss the rock alt line on the climb, about 2/3rds of the way up on the left hand side, you can make a quick left hand turn to hit about a 2-3ft rock drop, however it is an alternate line and definitely not required.
The lower section of the trail on the downhill is rock armored with a ridearound to the right that avoids the majority of the rocks, however if you go left, you can rip down the rocks. On the climb, the rocks can be an intimidating opener, however it is the only section on the trail that is like that.
Jim Branch tends to hold up to moisture a little better than other trails in the area, especially Ridgeline.
