Re-routed after the 2013 floods, this great descent from the Montane Trail flows nicely down to the stables. Initially in descent it follows Stoneworks creek for a distance, then the new trail turns right (old trail blocked) then slowly climbs onto a ridge overlooking the creek (passing the unsigned Montane Glades trail). It travels well before a long and partially bermed descent to the creek. It crosses the creek at the Stone Works sign, then gently climbs up to Douglas Fir.

There is an escape to the road, but most people will connect up to Montane cutoff or the Douglas Fir Trail.

It is a reasonable climb from the stables to the Montane, but the trail flows best downhill.

Access Info

From the Montane trail at Stoneworks Creek, from the stables on the 1a, from the Montane Glades trail (easiest) or Douglas Fir bench.

Tree down in the middle of the trail a few hundred meters after you descend down from montane. Fortunately it’s on a flat section so shouldn’t...
