This is a spectacular and challenging 18-km hiking trail through the provincially protected Economy River Wilderness Area. This trail is one of the few wilderness trails in Nova Scotia and is intended for experienced hikers only. The trail follows the Economy River gorge, passes by Newton Pond and Newton Lake and includes spur trails to waterfalls on Chain Lake Stream and Murphy Brook. The trail has several stream and river fords, with no bridges.

Route 2 west to Economy. North onto River Phillip Road (unpaved road, rough sections), follow road and signs for 7 km to upper parking area near Economy Falls. Follow trail to Economy Falls. Kenomee Canyon Trail begins near Economy Falls.
