Lakeview Trail is an old multi-use trail intended for Horses, Hiking and Mountain Biking. The trail can be ridden in both directions and begins with a fairly steep, technical, long and switchbacked climb starting from either trailhead. The trail is rough, rocky terrain and can lead to a few hike a bike climbs. You are rewarded with steep, switchbacked descents after the many climbs, and a beach at the North end of the lake.

Access Info

Access from Buntzen West Service Road and head North. Alternatively, head South from the suspension bridge on Buntzen Lake Trail to the Lakeview Trail trailhead. Or from Old Buntzen Lake Trail that begins on the North West side of McCombe Lake.

Personally I would only do this trail if I wanted to go to the south beach of buntzen which is awesome by the way. It definitely beats hiking or canoeing. That being said this trail is quite poorly maintained. You have sections where thorny bushes have invaded the trail and loose rocks that will make areas impossible to climb. Speaking of climbing, this trail has a lot of it and you will find yourself hiking up a lot of it. You got insanely steep lines with loose gravel and feature that only Danny macaskill could bunny hop over. After all these climbs the descents don't even really feel worth it. Sure, they are alright but they seem really short compared to all the time you just spent hiking your bike up the hill. Overall I would only recommend this trail to someone who enjoys their climbs more than their descents.
