While these tracks can be ridden and walked in either direction, Lawson’s Long Alley is the easiest climb up to the Mt York Peninsula from Hartley so is best experienced bottom to top.

The track consists of singletrack in the valley and then the old road makes up the top half. Features a washed out section of rocks (Boulders?) halfway up the hill... If you can ride up (or even down) this section you're doing good other than that, the riding is great!

"Lawson’s Long Alley and Lockyer’s Road Loop follow the earliest tracks down the mountain and into the Hartley Valley. Lawson’s Long Ally, named after William Lawson, one of the first Europeans to cross the Blue Mountains, was constructed in 1824 and was the only access route into the valley. The road was closed in 1832 when the Victoria Pass was opened. Enjoy superb views and historical points of interest."

Access Info

Access bottom up: Park at the "Lockyer's Track Campground" in Hartley and then ride East along Hartley Vale Road to access the trail through the gate at Walton's Road.

Access top down: Park off Mt York Road, at the Berghofer Drive junction. Trail head is signposted on the left hand side of the car park.
