This portion of the Lewis and Clark Trail is very primitive and steep. It is marked frequently with 6' trailmarkers so you can still follow the Historic path.
The following description from the sign near the top of the trail: "This section of the trail is very much like Lewis and Clark found it and considered very difficult to negotiate. There is no actual tread, portions are very steep and footing is treacherous. The trail is marked every few hundred yards with markers bearing the Lewis and Clark Logo."
