 I think the intention is that the trail is not as favorable to counter-clockwise direction of travel on a bike. Technically, this is NOT a legitimate bicycle trail as it is in designated Wilderness area.

 If ridden counterclockwise the climb out becomes a multi-thousand foot hike-a-bike. Climbing out clockwise is totally doable though.
