This road is the uphill climb to access the Little Baldy Trail. Purists will want to start at the bridge but this track shows starting a little ways up, where the trail crosses the road(parking for a few cars on the shoulder). This eliminates 2 miles of road climb but also eliminates the last .9 miles of trail. If you start at the bottom, there is parking at the Halfway Flats campground(where the trail dumps out) or before the bridge across the river. Either way, start the climb up Rd 1709. 1709 ends into 1706. Stay on 1706 until you go straight on 1600. Now the track becomes rough and steeper. Reach the trail junction in about 1.6 miles. You can also keep climbing the road for another 1.6 miles and 600 vert. to the summit. An addition to the trails starts there.
