A mixture of closed roads kept open by four wheelers leads to the top a ridge, followed by downhill single track that connects with the Jeep Ride Spring Trail. The combined downhill single track descends 1200 vertical feet to the South Shoreline Trail. Most of the trail is unmarked and difficult to find in places. The Phillips Lake 7.5' Quadrangle map will help in navigation. It can be downloaded for free with the Avenza Maps app.
The closed 600 road starts off the 1160 gravel road south of the junction with the 2220. Follow the 600 up Dean Creek and take a right on the 605 which has significantly less use. This will cross Little Dean Creek and follows the drainage up along the 460 road. If one were to stay on the 460 it would lead straight to the single track but then the scenic route would be missed. After leaving the 460 the route continues on closed roads to a shallow saddle on a small ridge. This is where navigation becomes challenging. The trail is marked subtly with small cairns and purposely laid sticks as it sidehills over to an unnamed drainage. From there the trail is more well defined yet remains unmarked. The downhill is fast and steep in places but not overly technical. It's over far too quickly.
