Lookout is rugged relatively primitive and somewhat technical trail. NATO, USFS and Teens Inc conducted a recent reroute to put the trail back where it was before USFS cut beetle kill trees causing a temporary "social reroute". The trail is smooth with some challenging step ups/downs in the lower section, a couple of "alt-lines" that take you over some problems in the middle with an upper section that is loose and rowdy. The trail spills out into a parking area of Forest Access road, but also connects with Observatory and gets you close to the upper sections of Sugar Mag.
