This more difficult 3.9 mile trail is in the northern portion of the Barlow Ranger District. The trail is popular for mountain biking and the trail goes through several small, open meadows and follows the Eightmile Creek. It is a primitive single track trail with some steep grades. Lots of cool sections with steep, slalom like berms that are a blast coming down! The steepest sections are mostly near the top of the trail. Trail connects with Fifteenmile Trail. Combine this with a long climb up Cooks Meadow to Lookout mountain then down Lookout to Knebal Springs to Super Connector for an all day epic. Sections of this trail are maintained by the 44 Trails Association.
From Hood River, OR to the north end of the trail, take OR Hwy 35 south 26 miles, approximately 0.15 mile past milepost 71, to Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44). Turn left (east) on Forest Road 44 and travel 7.7 miles, 300’ east of Rail Hollow Road (Forest Road 4400-120), and park in the pullout. The trail starts on the south side of Dufur Mill Road.
From Dufur, OR to the north end of the trail, go west on Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44) for 17 miles and follow the directions above to the parking area.
