Absolutely beautiful section of trail from the junction of the FR 430 to the top of Bloom Peak on the Idaho-Montana Stateline trail. Trail tread is mostly forest loam, interspersed with a couple small scree sections when you hit the alpine zone. The trail primarily sticks to the Idaho side in the open, but plenty of places to get awesome views into Montana. There are a couple short climbs, and the last bit to Bloom peak (5863ft) might be a hike-a-bike for some, but it is worth it. Do the short walk up to Lost Peak (6250ft) and get some of the best views the Coeur d'Alene's have to offer. Then, if you are doing a big adventure ride, contemplate the drainage you are about to drop into Go in August for prime huckleberry heaven or in September for the fall colors.

Access Info

Can be accessed from either FR 430 to start at the north, or from FR 270 to start from the South. If you are just doing this ride, I would recommend from the 270; as of this writing the 978 out of Eagle had been recently graded and had erosion work done on it (summer 2016).
