Lost Lake is a tough trail with a gorgeous, swimmable alpine lake as a reward. This is not for the faint of heart or lung. The trail, where it turns off General Creek trail is an old jeep road with a road to trail conversion. The first 1/2 mile has a few pitches of hike a bike, then the trail mellows out and is rideable to the lakes. There are actually two lakes out here. Duck Lake (usually filled with Lily pads, and Lost Lake. Lost Lake is a gem. There are a few deep spots for skinny dipping, but much of the lake is shallow.
This best flows from Richardson Lake side. As locals, we usually ride from Barker Pass to Richardson Lake, then drop into Sugar Pine via Lost Lake/General Creek. General Creek also has about a 5 minute hike a bike section (downhill). You can also access Lost Lake Trail from Sugar Pine Campground, or by riding out the Rubicon Trail. Rubicon Trail has some very challenging cobble sections heading west.

Note- I've been clearing the trees from Lost Lake/General Creek for years now. Last time I did the saw work was 2016. Will try to do another pass in Summer 2019.

Very steep and rocky loose uphill. We made it half way then came back, too much pushing bikes uphill. Lots of trees down too so you will mostly push and hike your bike. Downhill was rideable if you are a skilled rider.
