Once you have passed the entrance to Backdoor there is a road that goes to your left, up a short hill to a dead end. Off of this dead end is a trail head for a trail called Luge. A very fast, smooth, loamy trail. A couple hundred meters down it does an abrupt left turn, this is where it becomes Sorcerer's Apprentice. SA had work done on it as it was used for the FVMBA race series. Some rough areas were evened out and bridges put across creeks.
It exits onto a fire rd. Turn left onto the road and start a short climb. On the left you have a trail head for Jolly Rancher which parallels the DH course and will empty you out at the pond at the bottom OR you can continue back up the road, take the first road on the right and end up at the top of the DH course.
