This alternate loop has rolling hills with some flats. One bridge crossing and beautiful views of McDonald Lake. This is a multi-use trail with Nordic Skiers, Snowshoers, Bikers, and Walkers. Please, Please Please have trail etiquette and do NOT walk directly on top of the set cross country ski tracks. Dogs are allowed but all Alberta Parks guidelines and regulation apply throughout all of these trails. Please note that this is a remote area with limited cell service so prepare accordingly.
Access Info
This trail is accessed from the Pierre Grey Lakes Trail, which in turn is accessed from the Smoky River Nordic Ski Club trailhead which is located at the McDonald Day use are. You can also access this trail from the other SRNSC trailhead that is located at the Moberly Lake parking lot/Norris Boat Launch area. Again, the Nordic club has placed benches and ski racks for your convenience.
