Land Manager
The sections of the Meadow that run in and very near the arroyo can be very sandy so that bikes with tires less than 3 inches will most likely be hike-a-bike for some sections. Away from the arroyo, the trail is all ridable on standard mountain bike (2 inch +) tires.
These trails have been named the Upper Ridge Trail (running along the boundary with La Mirada), and the Meadow Trail (running alongside the Frijoles Arroyo). As these trails are part of Aldea's “outback” network of trails and footpaths, they will be left in their natural state so that there is no incremental maintenance requirement.
Access Info
With these two actions, we have established a “good neighbor” policy with the equestrian community as we recognize their traditional access to our original ranch land and their continuing access to the trail networks of our neighboring communities. However, by limiting access to these two trails we continue to emphasize our over-arching commitment to land preservation and the enhancement of our desert-scape.
This grant of access is totally conditional; it can be revoked at any time by the Board if equestrians or mountain-bikers exceed these limitations or cause substantive damage to the land. The Board is hopeful that all parties now will have positive incentives to follow the rules. Also, by posting our property with signs defining non-permitted uses as Trespass, we now will be able to call on the Sheriff and the judicial system for support.
