Mesa Creek is an older trail with many minor changes over the years. It drops about a 1000'
Start at the public parking lot at Jumbo Lake on CO 65. There are a couple of options for accessing the trail. The more rideable one is shown here. The other is accessed through the USFS Ranger Station.
There is a rogue trail that has developed at the top on the powerline corridor. It is steep and recommended the wide and less steep approved trail.
It is primarily used for hiking, but is very rideable downhill with very few rocky tech sections. Riding it uphill is mostly not technical but very strenuous.
Scenery is without vistas in stands of mixed conifer & aspen.
There are 2 stream crossings, both with quaint bridges.
The trail ends at CO 65. This makes for an easy shuttle by car or ride back up 65 to Jumbo.
Or continue across 65 on the Old Mesa Road, a few miles of gravel which comes out on 65 down the road from Powderhorn Ski area.
