An excellent section to hike. NoBo, starts with a view of the large quarry operation to the south and a forested walk leads to the ridge with a good view to the west and south. Concrete pads and rusty fencing are remnants of a Nike Missile radar site abandoned in 1961. Pinnacle Rock has a 180 degree view including Rattlesnake Mountain's TV towers. Watch for some wood/gravel steps and take a side trip to the base of the ledge to see some on the massive slabs of basalt. Be careful of broken glass. Approaching Rattlesnake Mountain, the trail switches up to the base of the cliff and passes under a massive rock through a keyhole. The views up top are outstanding. Will Warren's Den is a popular spot of local legend. See the POI for more info. Stay on the trail near the TV Towers. From this point to the Rt 6 trailhead is one of the most popular sections of the trail. It can be quite muddy, but extensive improvements are underway at the base of the mountain.
