This lower section is mostly washed out and steep from dirt bikes riding in mud. Not great, but the switch backs in the upper section are great.

For winter riding the lower section where it intersects with Mud Springs is often packed down from snowshoes.

Creeks still have water. Dust in spots. Much worse up higher on the switchbacks...

Riding up this thing involves multiple hike-a-bike sections. Man is it fun on the way down. There was minimal dust, but it was a riot!

is this really a double-black? can an intermediate rider climb this without too many dismounts?

I like answering my own questions... It's a tough climb with some super steep and loose sections that I had to hike, but definitely worth doing as a good way to loop with Ridge and Tibble

Right, this trail starts out great, then suddenly becomes a motorcross dug out rock garden. a couple extended sections you have to hike. But I totally agree, that it is worth the few hikes to get to the upper half. You quickly gain a lot of altitude and riding down Mud Springs and Tibble Fork is way fun.

We did it this week with a group of 16-17 year-old boys, anticipating that we would have to walk down most of it, but there were only a few spots requiring dismount. Some spots were muddy; the end of the trail was great fun for boys because it had 3 stream crossings at the end.
