This is a bidirectional trail, maintained by the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship.

For mountain-biking, and downhill orientation, it is a fast and fun high mountain singletrack that rips down the mountain between close trees and large embedded rocks. Great shuttle run

This is no longer accurate, the reroute around the Jeep road is now built.

Check out Feather River Outdoors in Quincy; they just started offering a shuttle service to Mills Peak as well as Mt. Hough. www.featherriveroutdoors.com/bike-shuttle.html

Given the choice between this and Downieville, I choose DV any day. Glad to do this once, but its constant rocks, and really very little variation outside of that.

Rocky as all shit, but still a fun trail. Fast and good flow, and the bumpy rocks smooth out with speed! Definitely difficult for a "blue" trail.

Makes an honest rider for those who pedal. Will also test whether one has set their suspension correctly. Closer to a true old school trail, as they should be. Choose the proper casing on your tires. Have fun.

       Hi,

My name is Mandy and I'm the Trails Manager with SBTS. We help build and maintain trails on the Plumas NF. Can you please update that the traffic for Mills Peak is NOT downhill. This trail, as all trails on the Plumas NF, are two way trails and the uphill traffic has the right fo way.

Dirt is all time, about 6 down trees in the first 3 miles, & a few rideable snow patches
