A number of rivers and especially Rumbling Burn cross the track before the climb. If it has been raining recently the rivers may be too fast flowing to safely cross.
The hill climb is a good test of fitness and provides a good challenge to make it to the top without stopping/walking.
There are some beautiful beaches that make great picnic and swimming spots.
The track crosses private land so please respect the landowner's property and livestock. No dogs.

The track is single-track at the start, over a stile, and some steep climbs. Then it joins a 4WD "road", but you have to clamber through small gates in a couple of places. Be warned that there could be sandflies at the beaches.
