This segment goes through a burned area so there isn't a lot of forest canopy. The trail surface is fairly rocky with lots of small 'clinker' rocks. Several climbs and descents as you traverse the segment. At the right time of year, wild Rhododendrons are plentiful along parts of the trail.

This segment is mostly clear a couple small logs but still amazing! Watch out for the poison oak though. It's also a little longer than they say. Strava put it at about 4 miles long
